For a women's egg to be fertilized by the man's sperm. The sperm should attach to the outside layer of the egg. After the sperm is attached to the egg's outer layer, it shall push inside the egg to the cytoplasm, where fertilization occurs.

In traditional IVF, sperms are placed next to the egg in a laboratory dish. Fertilization occurs when one of the sperm enters the cytoplasm of the egg.

Of course, the fertilization rate is much higher using ICSI, and that's why ICSI (Intra-cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) procedure is carried out as standard as part of all our IVF treatments to ensure fertilization at no extra charge as the traditional IVF has a lower success rate in fertilization.
